The Great Outdoors is the fourteenth episode of the 2011 series of Sooty.
Plot[]
Richard is taking the Children’s Club on a camping trip into the country, but Sooty and Sweep sneak along too. With Sweep in charge of map reading and Sooty playing tricks with his magic wand, it’s not long before things go wrong. Can the gang put up the tent and set out the barbecue before a thunderstorm storm arrives?

- A blog post from writer Alex Skerratt has revealed that this episode is based on an old Harry Corbett episode from the 1970's in which Harry follows a map that has been made by Sooty.
Goofs[]
- In some shots of Sooty at the barbecue, the end of the puppet is visible.
- Richard says he "hates the countryside", but in A Drive in the Country he is a big fan of the countryside.
- Richard refers to his party as "Girls and Boys" even though there is only one boy present.
