It's a Dog's Life is the nineteenth episode of the second series of Sooty.

Plot

It's Mr. Slater's annual dog show, and Sooty is determined that Sweep will win the grand prize. But will he be brave enough to attempt the Doggie Assault Course?

Trivia

  • The elderly man seen in this episode is writer and production assistant, Wink Taylor. The lady he can be seen with when he is hit with the stick is Soo's voice artist Brenda Longman. Make-up and wardrobe supervisor Wendy Abrahams can be briefly seen as a dog owner wearing a pink top. Catherine Marks who guest starred in the episode Easter Time, can be spotted in the auidence of the dog show. Richard Cadell's brother David Cadell can also be spotted in the crowd.
  • Snoop Doggy Doo-Doo is a reference to the famous rapper, Snoop Dogg. The multicoloured coat Sweep is seen wearing is a reference to the musical Joseph and his Technicolour Dreamcoat. The music heard as Sweep enters is in the style of the song "Any Dream Will Do".
  • Bonnie Spencer (who presented Sooty at Cadbury World that year) was going to appear with her dog in this episode, but she couldn't be on set when it was taped.

Goofs

  • When the episode aired on television, Mr. Slater's name was misspelled as "Mr. Sleet" in the subtitles.
  • When Sooty whispers "I'll be his trainer", a cup behind Sooty and Richard has blown over. It is stood back up in a following shot.
  • When Sweep, as Snoop Doggy Doo-Doo, first lies down and we see his legs, the puppeteer's hand is briefly visible as he gets up.
